This is another quick handheld picture with my Canon 60D. If I look closely there is always something to take a picture of.
Recently I decided I wanted to read more. Read both fun books and learning books. I’m a start and stop type reader, I will read a dozen books and then put my reader down for a year. So my goal starting now is to read consistently, even if it’s only 15min. Forming Habits One of […]
The trees are full and the rhododendrons are in bloom, summer is here.
It’s nothing special, but it’s nice for a home brew. It was actually ready to bottle a couple weeks ago, but we were a little busy to get to it. Hopefully those extra days clearing will reduce the aging a bit so we can start drinking it on the patio.
Not all baking works out all the time. This weekend my two cookie projects didn’t work out at all. The second recipe is pictured above. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but it may have been beaten too much or the pan was in the wrong place in the oven. It was my first […]
A couple weeks ago we had a pork shoulder, and rather than roasting it in the @KamadoJeff like we would normally, we did it in the oven. It was delicious, and there was the added benefit of the pork fat drippings that we saved for cooking. However, this weekend I grilled steaks and they were […]

Over the last week we have been eating great. Batch cooking some days, and scratch cooking others. Yesterday we had no idea what we were going to have and that turned into this. Roasted pork shoulder from the freezer, corn fried in pork fat, onions, garlic powder and some herbs, canned black beans and a […]
My typical method for a cup of coffee is the aero press you can see behind, but sometimes we need a very nice pour-over.
Its mid-week now and the bread that I made on the weekend is still holding up nicely. One of them are the hot dog buns. So that I can find the recipes quickly in the future, I’m putting them here. Basic White Bread This is a recipe for basic white bread that is amazing. Lasts […]
A little after bedtime snack
I made bread yesterday too, but today’s looks a lot better. Yesterday’s attempt wasn’t kneaded enough and I used too much flour on the board when I was punching down and forming the loaf.
A year or more ago I started use brave browser as my main browser. It was a rocky start, but it appears the majority of wrinkles have been ironed out on the browser side. I initially downloaded it because of the built in ad-blocking and the idea that I could reward publishers of sites I […]
Rather than posting to Instagram all the time, I’m starting to update this site with my inane posts. Good idea?
I read Atomic Habits after James Clear was on a podcast interview spree. The first podcast that I heard him on was the Jordan Harbinger Show
I bought my first NAS nine years ago. I built my first computer that was dedicated to network file sharing 8 years ago, and I have been running UnRAID for probably 5 years now. Until Windows 10 file sharing has been relatively straightforward, since Windows 10 however it has been a painful experience. My network […]
